How to Get In

The playtest runs through our Discord. An account on this site alone does not get you a key — the sign-up in the Discord is what puts you on the list.

1

Create your account

Sign up here and confirm your email with the code we send you.

2

Join our Discord

Join the server at discord.gg/cgJvb2QxD.

3

Sign up for the playtest

In the Discord, sign up for the playtest with the name of the account you made in step 1. Without this step you can't play.

4

Get your key and play

When you're in, you get a key and a link to the download page. The installer sets the game up and keeps it updated.

Playtesters agree to a non-disclosure agreement in the game before they play. Builds are early — tell us what breaks in the Discord, or use Report a Bug in the game's pause menu.

The Game

One Big Living Backcountry

An open world built on real lidar ground from Ontario's Algonquin Park. No story to follow — pick a lake, a trail or a trading post and go.

Water That Moves

Every lake runs on our own live water simulation — it ripples, splashes and carries what lands in it. Fourteen species live in it, each with its own depth, habits and appetite. Read the water, match the bait to the fish, then fight it on a rod that bends and a drag that slips.

14 species — trout, pike, walleye, bass, crappie, carp, catfish, burbot, sturgeon and more Fish pick their lures: sturgeon want bait, pike want spoons and swimbaits Deep runs, drag, line stamina and life-size fish
Hunting

Track It. Earn It.

Elk, moose, whitetail, wolves and foxes live in the forest around the lakes. Carry a scoped lever-action rifle where real ballistics and wound zones decide the shot. Follow the blood trail, then score your harvest on the trophy card — Bronze, Silver, Gold or Legend.

Getting Around

Fly In. Drive Out.

Pick up a floatplane, a helicopter, a truck or a bass boat at the vehicle stands. Land on any lake big enough, chart the unnamed ones from the air, and fast-travel between the trading posts you've found.

Survival & Progression

Live Off the Land

Health, stamina, food and water are on you. Eat from your pack or the quick dial, drink at the lake's edge, and if it goes wrong you wake up in the trading post's clinic. Traders sell gear, food, rifles and ammo; missions, levels and ranks track how far you've come — and you can build your own cabin.

Bring Your Friends

Dev Updates

What's New

The playtest build updates itself. Here's what has gone into it, newest first.

October 23, 2026

Update 0.41: Skills Live now

  • A skill tree in the start menu: four branches — Angling, Hunting, Survival and Exploration — with 40 skills that change how you fish, hunt, survive and travel
  • Skill points are earned as you level up and rank up. You'll never fill the whole tree, so choose your path
  • A new level-up card that tells you when you've earned a point, with a reminder while points are waiting
  • A new field outfit for the angler: jacket, shirt, cargo pants, boots and a hiking pack
  • A What's New window on the main menu, so every update tells you what changed and what's coming next
October 20 – 23, 2026

Updates 0.31 – 0.39: The Living Forest

  • New light: sun shafts through the canopy, leaves that let the light through, haze and fog that settle in the valleys
  • Grass and plants bend as you, animals and vehicles move through them, and lie down the way the body went
  • Falling leaves, birds in the sky, a bluer sky and softer sun glare
  • Hand-posed rifle animations for standing, walking and jogging, and a reload you can hear
  • Save slots and autosave
  • Herds that spread out instead of circling, fish that keep off the shoreline, and new sounds for every animal
  • Swimming arms, a dog that fetches farther, and helicopter rotor wash that flattens the grass
October 17 – 20, 2026

Updates 0.20 – 0.30: Survival

  • Survival mode with its own card on the start menu: go solo or bring a party, then live off health, hunger and thirst
  • Parties travel together, and invites reach your friends list
  • Every wild fish is the same species, size and colour on every player's screen
  • The hunting dog: heels at your side and brings back your kills
  • A 3D relief world map of the real land, a main menu of its own and the Legends Lounge grand lodge to find
  • Lures with their own catch chances and a twitch of the line that draws fish in; a breath-hold scope with sway and recoil
  • Faster, more reliable downloads and updates through the launcher
October 16, 2026

Update 0.19

  • New harvest screen: your animal in view, its trophy medal, and an Accept Trophy button
  • Health, stamina, food and water as clean survival rings with icons
  • Eat from the quick dial and drink at the lake's edge — food sold at every trading post
  • Shots into the water splash off the water itself; shot fish die and drift to shore, and so does anything that dies in the water
  • A deeper, louder rifle shot that echoes off the ridges
  • A reload ring, lure-specific fish, one-press fish landing and a clinic to wake up in
October 14 – 16, 2026

Updates 0.15 – 0.18: Hunting

  • Elk, moose, whitetail, wolves and foxes in the forest, with their own sounds and behaviour
  • Scoped lever-action rifle, bullet drop, wound zones, blood trails and trophy scoring
  • Rifles, ammo and vehicles at the trading posts; zones you discover as you explore
October 12 – 14, 2026

Updates 0.2 – 0.14

  • Every fish in the lakes is a new hand-made model, each with its own colour variations
  • A new angler character, a launcher that keeps the game up to date, and the closed playtest
  • Multiplayer: player-hosted worlds, proximity voice, a vehicle radio and name tags
  • Helicopter and vehicle stands, smoother vehicles online, and a lot of fixes from playtest reports
October 10, 2026

Live Play

  • The standalone build with its own main menu
  • Missions and a daily board; levels, ranks and days played
  • Traders and their shops, the quick dial, and a cabin you build yourself
  • The fight: deep runs, drag, stamina and a rod that bends; splashes made by the water itself
  • The seaplane: flight model, engine, lights; minimap, world map and fast travel
October 4, 2026

A Whole New Map

  • Algonquin Park, Ontario: 8 km by 8 km of real lidar ground
  • Our own live water simulation running on every lake at once
  • 75 villages with 254 cabins, lodges and trading posts; 78 km of back roads; 180 docks
  • Living shorelines: weed, rocks and fallen timber round every lake
